A Japanese ERP software package
By Japanese designers
For Japanese enterprises

In Western Europe and North America, many large companies implement packaged software suites provided by software vendors, enabling them to build company-internal systems quickly and with minimal capital outlay. This situation places Japanese software vendors at a disadvantage as they attempt to develop new software on their own, as vendors tend to bring foreign software packages into Japan, customize them and sell them to Japanese corporate users.

Moreover, large Japanese companies that cannot make do with these low-cost software packages from overseas must invest in costly, tailor-made solutions, a highly inefficient process that causes them to lag behind their respective industries in implementing strategic IT initiatives.

This unsatisfactory status quo provided the impetus for the establishment of Works Applications, a company that develops and markets imaginative ERP solutions with the special needs of major Japanese corporate customers in mind.

What form should an ERP for use in business process reform (BRP) take? We provided our own answer to this question with the development, sale and support of COMPANYŽ, the ERP package from Works Applications created especially for the needs of large Japanese companies. The enormous potential of the Works Applications approach has not gone unnoticed by major venture capital firms. Today, we count several of these companies, including venture capital companies that have nurtured household names such as AOL and Apple Computer, among our shareholders.

About ERP Market in Japan
The market for enterprise resource planning(ERP) software packages, which are used to perform business process reform (BRP) in areas such as personnel and payroll (P&P), is worth approximately 300 billion yen in Japan. Given that the same market in the United States is valued at some 3 trillion yen, the domestic ERP industry clearly has substantial room to grow still.
ERP Market in Japan
As they suffer through a protracted recession, Japan's enterprises are hurrying to overhaul their business processes, highlighting the need for faster and more efficient operation. These pressures are heightening the demand for ERP software packages, which offer low-cost, "off-the-rack" solutions that can be implemented within a short time-frame. As the market for such products grows, so does the ERP industry, with the result that customers are increasingly focusing on quality in ERP software packages.
